Frequently Asked Questions

1.) Should we make a reservation?

Yes, yes, yes and absolutely yes! We are incredibly busy all year round, even on the weekdays. We also host a variety of private events throughout the year so it is ALWAYS best to call prior to coming to see us, especially if you are traveling a distance. We can be reached at 845-225-TEAS by phone or you can email Samantha at Samantha@FlorrieKayes.com for any reservation requests. We tend to fill up 1 to 2 weeks in advance so be sure to call early!

2.) Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes we do! Due to our limited capacity and waitlist - you will be charged a $25 fee for anyone who is missing from your reservation. You can call us with any changes to your guest count up to 24 hours in advance. Of course, emergencies happen, however we are finding that often guests are booking tables for 5 or 6 guests and only 3 or 4 are showing up which hurts! So please be mindful when booking your table, we greatly appreciate it!

3.) Do you have gluten free options?

We serve a large number of celiac clients on a weekly basis. While we do not have a separate, gluten free kitchen or oven, we are very careful with cross contamination and have not had any issues in our 6 years of being in business.

We have plenty of gluten free options on our menu:

- Gluten free afternoon tea

- House made gluten free scones

- House made miniature desserts including: cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries (seasonal), hazelnut caramel bars, shortbread cookies, banana bread, banana/date/walnut bars, chocolate tahini truffles, macarons,

- Gluten free breads to use for any of our sandwiches or burgers on our menu

- Gluten free salads, all salad dressings are house made and gluten free

- Gluten free quinoa grain bowl

- We have a pavlova and flourless chocolate torte on our sweets menu which are gluten free

- Gluten free cauliflower flatbread

4.) Is Florrie Kaye's "kid friendly"

Yes we are! We love serving children and watching them experience afternoon tea for the first time! We have a children's version of our afternoon tea for kids 12 and under (includes a tiara or crown!) as well as a "kids menu" featuring some popular sandwiches and sides. We do not allow any outside food so please do not bring anything in for your kids. (Baby food for babies 2 and under is absolutely fine) Please just be mindful that we have limited seating, so if you bring your kids with you we ask that you order a meal for them.

5.) Can we bring in a cake?

We do not allow any outside food or cakes, but not to worry! We can help you celebrate your special occasion with a house made cake by Florrie Kaye's! (Please place your orders at least 1 week in advance) We also have a variety of individual cakes and desserts on our sweets menu that we are happy to top with our chocolate birthday sign and we will be sure to use a candle and sing to your special guest.

6.) Do you sell your teas?

Florrie Kaye's carries 105 varieties of loose tea which is sold in increments of 2 ounces. You get about 8-10 cups per every two ounces, depending on the weight of the tea. Each tea varies in price depending on the tea. The price for 2 ounces starts around $7 - $8, however premium teas can go up from there. We bag the tea for you to take home and it lasts for years when stored in a cool dry place. If you are looking for larger amounts of tea, feel free to ask us, we can sell in one pound bags.

Additionally we have a gift shop full of tins of tea as well that make perfect gift items!

5.) How is tea served at Florrie Kaye's?

We serve our tea by the pot which is 3 cups. You are welcome to order a few pots and share to try some of the different varieties we have.

We also serve iced tea as well. During the summer we serve two - three types of freshly brewed iced tea, or we are happy to ice any of the teas on our menu, it just takes a few minutes to cool it down.

5.) Do you allow pets at Florrie Kaye's?

Service dogs with appropriate paperwork and service vest are welcome to the tearoom, however they must remain on the floor and be well behaved.

We do not allow any other types of animals at the tearoom or on our patio.
